Blue & Beyond is the name of our band. We play primarily acoustic blues, rock, and contemporary music. This includes everything from early americana of the 1900’s to the present day. Our influence range fom the late Gary Davis and Robert Johnson to Soft Cell and own material. We all share a keen interest for the works of Bob Dylan and Neil Young.
John Tribe is a vocalist, harmonica player, song writer and guitarist who has written and recorded.
Paul Martinez is a vocalist, bassist, and guitarist. Currently he also plays for Dave Edmunds and during his career he has played for The Robert Plant band.
When not busy on tour we have the luxury of Geoff Downes tickling the ivories for us.
This year we will be joined at Raglan Festival by Lyndon Webb, Monmouth’s diverse answer to Joe Satriani (We are still trying to find an instrument he can’t play)
Blue and Beyond is your ideal solution to providing quality acoustic music for pubs and events. We have a few home penned compositions and write whenever the muse strikes. Our covers material runs from the 1890’s to the present day. Many of our songs offer fresh interpretations due to the dynamic skill of our guest performers and their years of performing experience.
In the past we have been very proud to have had Hugh McDowell joining us for a performance.

As the name suggests the band plays the blues and beyond.
Regulars:-
Paul Martinez
Paul’s guitar playing spans over 30 years during which time he has played with many a legend. He has featured on Robert Plant’s ‘Principle of Moments’ and ‘Pictures At Eleven’ both platinum albums in America. Paice Ashton Lord’s ‘Malice In Wonderland’ . Stretch’s ‘Elastique’ from which came the hit single ‘Why Did You Do It’.
John Tribe
John learnt to play the harmonica at the age of 14, as a reaction to being forced to play the clarinet at school, in fact he once had a punishment of 500 lines ” I must not play ‘Stranger On The Shore’ when I should be practising ‘fugue in F’”. Always keen on singing he took up the guitar at the age of 25. In May 2001 he recorded 2 of his own compositions ‘The Ocean Of Life’ and ‘Blue & Beyond’ with his own arrangement of ‘The Hesitation Blues’ and ‘From 4 Until Late’at Nutshell Studios. He currently resides in Monmouthshire .
Geoff Downes
Geoff’s full bio can be read at GeoffDownes.com . Geoff’s playing gives our band extra ‘juke joint’ and rock magic whenever he is available and not on tour with Asia or his latest projects.
